About Reg Hudson
CEO of State City Music since 2008, Reg Hudson is the music industry’s rising executive. At the forefront of a remodeled label with refreshing music and unstoppable tactics, Hudson is the executive of tomorrow revamping the overall outlook of the industry.
Born Reginald L. Hudson on January 12, 1983 in none other than the hustler’s capital, Bronx, NY, Hudson had an early introduction to music. Growing up in a one-bedroom apartment occupied by a family of 5, Hudson was exposed to a melting pot of tunes. Taking an immediate liking to James Brown, which would soon manifest into an intentional connection with the title “Hardest Working Man in Show Business.”
With a mother in the music publishing industry and a preacher for a father who used all verticals of entertainment to get the message across, Hudson learned a lot about the industry in his own household. Going on to attend the University of Delaware, Hudson became the mouthpiece of the yard with his very own radio show, “The Takeover Show.” From introducing new genres of music to special celebrity guests, “The Takeover Show” was the show to tune into while simultaneously positioning Hudson as the go-to brand for all local artists and DJs.
On the day of his last radio show, Hudson had an epiphany equating the end of the show with losing a part of his true being. He realized then that the path of music was something he had to continue with.
Radio Host, Manager, Consultant, Marketer, Promoter. These are all titles that Hudson began to conquer in the Delaware area, sparking the interest of State City Music; an up and coming label run by friends who would soon become his business partners in 2007. After experiencing the great influence Hudson had on the local music industry, State City Music asked him to come on board as the Director of Marketing for all projects.
With new endeavors top of mind, Hudson was aware of the oversaturation within the music industry. Refusing to introduce State City Music as a “one hit wonder,” Hudson moved back to New York City to explore each vertical of the industry. Landing the Advertising Operations Manager position at GIANT Magazine in 2007, Hudson learned what ignited the interests of media firsthand and what immediately caught the eye of the consumer; a lesson many new executives are still trying to conquer.
At the mere age of 26, Hudson has promoted to CEO of State City Music, housing a plethora of unique artists such as: R&B sensation KO, M.O.N.E.Y and Hip Hop’s next phenomenon, Yung Texxus who has caught the attention of the rap world with hit singles like “Buss It Open” featuring Yung Joc. Although already completing a successful run, Hudson intends on taking State City Music to the very top. Learning the dos and donts from all pioneering executives in the game, Hudson is using his knowledge to take the label to the next level, introducing the music world to the innovative artists and out the box tracks they have been anticipating. Stay tuned.
